1st Spoon Feeding
Yesterday (3.27.11) we gave B his first taste of rice cereal. I think more dribbled down his chin than he actually swallowed, but it was a start!
I think I will wait a week or so before trying again. He didn't seem too interested in eating, but it was fun to try!
In other eating news...I think I'm going to make B's baby food. This is such a stretch for me, but I am strangely excited! I got a great book called "Baby Love" for Christmas and I have been reading through it recently. It has some pretty easy recipies that seem yummy! We will see how long I stick with it, but as the book title implies this is my love for my baby shown through food.

5 months!
Bennett Bear,
You are 5 months old today. Such a big boy! You are turning into quite the character. You have funny faces and you are super dramatic when you don’t get what you want. I must say it’s pretty amusing! You have also continued to explore the sounds you can make with your voice. This past month you have found your feet, and you just started sitting up on your own when you are put there. You have also started laughing when we play with you. It’s so neat to see you grow and change everyday. You are drooling like mad and I look everyday for some top teeth, but they aren’t there yet. You have started blowing spit bubbles with all that drool. It’s so cute! You are getting to be more flexible with your schedule. You take 3-4 naps a day and are going 2.5-3 hours between feedings. This is nice for me because it gives us a little more time to get things done around the house and around town. You are still swaddled for naps and wear your sleepsuit at night. I have no idea when we will stop swaddling you – you really like it! According to the home scale you weigh an even 16 pounds. I think you growth is slowing a little bit which is just fine with me. We still go to Yoga on Tuesdays and you love the stretches we do and the songs. I think your favorite song right now is “You Are My Sunshine” because you light up each time we sing it here at home. This past week you started going to the childcare center at the Y. You have done great each day and they love having you there! We have also been to the pool and you have splashed around with your feet. I can’t wait to start swim lessons in May! I think you are at the beginning stages of recognizing your name. You are more alert and turn to us when we say it. We have also be very diligent about introducing the signs for mama, dada, and milk. It will be so neat to see you pick those signs up and start to communicate with them. You have a new swing in the back yard. You are a little small to use it, but we do anyways and you have a big smile each time you swing back. It will be great when you are a little bit bigger! We plan to start introducing you to rice cereal this weekend. I’m expecting a mess, but I think you’ll do great. I can’t believe only 1 more month until you start eating fruits and veggies. My favorite part of each day is when I go get you from your naps and you smile up at me from your crib. There is nothing sweeter! I love you little bean : )

Yoga Yoga
Today B and I went to Postnatal Yoga. It was a lot of fun! I was a little nervous because he would miss his mid-morning nap and he gets cranky when he's tired (must take after his mama), but he did great. It was nice to be around other moms with little kids and in a place where it's OK if they cry : ). B didn't cry which was a blessing to me and makes me want to go again. I bought an 8 class pass so we will at least go to 8 more classes. We are going to try a different location on Tuesday and see how that one goes.
Here's an outtake from B's 4 mo. photo shoot...kinda looks like he did in yoga today!
